LRT reopens with more safety measures
LRT, a vital part of Ottawa's transportation network, has reopened after a three-month shutdown.
The shutdown was ordered by the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) after a derailment in August 2022.
The TSB found that the derailment was caused by a combination of factors, including a design flaw in the LRT's wheels and a lack of training for operators.
In response to the TSB's findings, the city has implemented a number of safety measures, including:
- Replacing the LRT's wheels with a new design
- Retraining all LRT operators
- Installing new safety systems on the LRT tracks
The city has also increased the number of maintenance staff assigned to the LRT system.
The LRT is an important part of Ottawa's transportation network, and the city is committed to ensuring that it is safe and reliable.
The reopening of the LRT is a positive step forward for the city, and it is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of Ottawa residents.
